Michael Jackson was suspected that he molested two boys. One of them, Macaulay Culkin denied this thing and said that such things never happened and they're friends but the other boy charged him and the case came on for trial. Though Michael Jackson wasn't convicted, this was a big break in his career and he got many enemies because of this, even the celebrities didn't very like him. I don't want to say that he is guiltless but there wasn't a judgement in that case.
And now here is Roman Polanski. He was charged that he gave drugs to a minor and raped a child (not molested but raped!). But wait! He wasn't just charged, he said that he really did these things and he almost took pride in that. Some of his beautiful words: "If I had killed somebody, it wouldn't have had so much appeal to the press, you see? But...fucking, you see, and the young girls. Judges want to fuck young girls. Juries want to fuck young girls. Everyone wants to fuck young girls!" And he never apologized and what is more he escaped from the USA. And after all these things he still has many supporters and friends and many of them are popular artists. Ohh, poor director... Hypocrites!
But what is the difference between these two case? Why hadn't Jackson friends and why has Polanski so much supporters? What can be the reason of this? I couldn't really find it out but I have an idea: Roman Polanski is a white man, Michael Jackson was black. Maybe it can be the key though I'm not sure. I just wrote this down because it came to my mind and it's interesting.
One more thing came to my mind: Maybe it's also a cause of this double standard that Michael Jackson was a feminine man. Most of the people don't like feminine men or masculine women. (I really can't this understand. I think that those persons who don't hide their masculine touch and feminine touch, those are much more interesting than a typical masculine man or a typical feminine woman.) So maybe these two things (that he was a black male and he was a feminine male) are responsible for the double standard.
(These things are very sad for me because I like their art. As an artist I like Polanski much more, he made very good movies, he made real pieces of art. My favorite is The Tenant, it's brilliant, a classic. And I like Jackson's music, too.)
